Yin Yoga: Still, quiet and deep

September 17th, 2011 - Saturday 2:00 - 5:00 PM

Prerequisites: None

Spend a light and relaxing afternoon with a series of restorative floor postures that will help toyin-yoga-half-butterfly-1cultivate and enhance your range of motion. Yin yoga is a quiet, peaceful practice that will deepen your concentration and ready your mind for meditation. As you surrender your body to gravity, yin postures create a slow, steady compression and gentle traction that moisturize joints and nourish ligaments, helping them to grow healthier, stronger and more pliant.

Couples Bodywork: Thai for Two!

September 18th, 2011 - Two separate session (take one or both)

Morning session: 9:00 - 12:00      //      Afternoon session 1:00 - 4:00

Prerequisites: None

Enjoy a deeper sense of intimacy and appreciation for each other. Couples Bodywork derives its power from yoga, Thai massage, shiatsu and meditation. It's a great reminder to make spiritual time a priority in your relationship and a gift that the two of you can share throughout your lives.

Lesli Lang and Ken Nelson create a welcoming atmosphere that makes this workshop relaxing, fun and enjoyable. You will experience friendship and passion in touching and being touched, techniques to relax or energize your partner, ways to give without tiring and how it feels to let go of the need to be perfect. While this bodywork is done fully clothed, these profoundly simple massage techniques can be more intimate than traditional massage.

Thai-Shiatsu Bodywork: Upper Body Intensive

Enjoy giving and receiving transformational bodywork. Learn powerful methods to relieve pain and chronic tension. Discover easeful ways to offer renewable energy to clients and loved ones through bodywork that uses assisted yoga postures. Rooted in yoga therapy, energy medicine, and meridian theory, these Thai massage and Shiatsu techniques rehabilitate connective tissue and reverse the effects of aging, injuries and lifestyle.

Gain the confidence and know-how to, Give a 1.5 hour Thai-Shiatsu bodywork session, Apply acupressure points and stretches to uplift health in targeted ways, Offer skillful touch with a caring presence.

This sequence focuses on treating lower and upper back, shoulders, neck and head, while integrating the whole body. Learn to apply passive stretching, acupressure, twisting, range-of-motion joint mobilization, energy balancing, breath awareness, gentle rocking and loving kindness meditation. Careful for yourself while giving, by adapting and modifying to suit your needs.

This course is a complete routine, or a stand-alone sequence that you can use right away. It is one of several basic certification courses offered at www.sacredhealingarts.net. Basic courses for certification may be taken in any order. Earn 26 hours of NCBTMB Continuing Education Credits.

RESTORATIVE YOGA with CAT GARFINKLE

Saturday, November 27th, from 3:30 - 5:00 will offer you the opportunity to delve into the healing practice of restorative yoga. Cat is an experienced, compassionate, and engaging teacher and her restorative classes draw people back time and again.

Restorative yoga is appropriate for all levels of yoga practitioner. Props and modifications are used to create a safe and supportive posture that encourages deep relaxation.
